Armageddon Now in Paperback
WHEATON, IL (Oct. 29, 2003)—Armageddon: The Cosmic Battle of the Ages, the number one bestselling eleventh title in the Left Behind series, releases in trade paperback on Tuesday, November 18. Originally released in hardcover in April of this year, Armageddon topped the charts for The New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, and Christian Booksellers Association. It is the fifth consecutive Left Behind series book to accomplish this feat.
Written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, Armageddon is set in the seventh and last year of the Great Tribulation. This latest apocalyptic thriller is a roller coaster ride of action and emotions. The cast of characters changes dramatically in the days leading up to this battle of the ages. The conflict stretches from Jerusalem to the Valley of Armageddon and across most of the Holy Land. The Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia has assembled an army so massive that is covers the land from horizon to horizon.
Jenkins and LaHaye created the manuscript in 2002 before the war with Iraq, but readers have commented on how the scenes set in Baghdad, Al Hillah and other parts of Iraq seem all the more realistic with the current conflict. Jenkins promised readers that Armageddon would have the biggest cliffhanger of them all and feedback indicates that readers are desperate to find out the resolution. The twelfth Left Behind® title won't release until Spring 2004.
Since its initial launch in 1995, the Left Behind series product line has racked up sales of more than 58 million copies worldwide. Based on the prophecies in the Book of Revelation, the apocalyptic thrillers chronicle the lives of those left behind after the sudden disappearance of millions of Christians. The 11 Left Behind® novels have been the breakout hits for the past five years smashing sales records for Christian fiction, sparking nationwide interest in End Times events, and generating intense media coverage, including a cover story in the July 1, 2002 edition of TIME magazine.
